Located near the historic town of Berrima between Sydney and Canberra, Bendooley Estate offers the ultimate in country elegance. Think rose gardens, expansive lawns and magnificent pine and oak trees, which are amongst the oldest in Australia.

A grand Georgian homestead built from convict-hewn stone, the Bendooley property was originally part of a much larger tract of land granted by Governor Lachlan Macquarie to Sir William Henry Moore in 1818. Moore gave it to his sister Ann, upon her marriage to William Cordeaux, who arrived on the first fleet and was the Deputy Assistant Commissioner General for the colony of New South Wales.

A historic venue with unrivalled privacy, a Bendooley Estate wedding in the Southern Highlands will be unforgettable and there’s no better way to enhance the venue’s spectacular setting than with live music. We suggest planning for around 6.5 hours of live music; 1.5 hours will be dedicated to your ceremony and pre-dinner drinks, followed by five hours of reception music.

If you’re considering hiring Red Soda Band to perform at your Bendooley Estate wedding, here’s what you need to know:

About the venue: If you’re not already sold on the Bendooley Estate Wedding Venue in the Southern Highlands consider this – unlike Sydney venues, you’ve got the whole property to yourself.

The bridal party also has access to an exclusive bridal parlour before, during and after the ceremony and reception. Located in the Bendooley Homestead and in the Book Barn, these private suites include a spacious lounge area, dressing room and bathroom amenities. If that’s not luxurious enough, an on-site chef can provide catering to the parlours upon request.

Wedding Ceremony: With no fewer than five locations for your ceremony – including sheltered lakeside options, you’ll be spoilt for choice at the Bendooley Estate wedding venue in the Southern Highlands.

The stunning lakeside pavilion (which has seating available) provides a scenic haven for guests to watch your vows. Other options include expansive private gardens with ancient European trees, a circular rose garden, and manicured lawns. In summer and spring, the Bendooley Homestead veranda is transformed into a romantic wonderland, as the Virginia creeper puts on a display of colour made just for celebrations of love. Finally, the sandstone forecourt – complete with landscaped garden and fireplace – is picturesque all year round.

Wedding Reception: For your Bendooley Estate wedding in the southern highlands, post-ceremony drinks and cocktails take place at the Cellar Door and Brasserie, which has an amazing indoor-outdoor fireplace.

For the main reception, the property has several locations to choose from:

The Book Barn is a vast, converted barn with cathedral ceilings, exposed timber beams, enormous rustic iron chandeliers and walls of beautiful leather-bound books. It can seat up to 170 people, or 250 people for a cocktail reception.

The stunning lakeside gardens can accommodate a marquee (available for hire through Bendooley Estate) catering for up to 200 guest. Alternately, the lakeside pavilion adjoining the gardens can be arranged with tables for a lunchtime wedding, perfect for intimate celebrates of up to 60 guests.

Finally, small or informal weddings can be hosted within the gardens, on the sandstone veranda, or in the dining rooms of the Bendooley Homestead.

Want to check out the venue? From Sydney, drive along the Old Hume Highway through Mittagong and make your way towards the corner of Oxleys Hill Road and Old Hume Highway (Berrima). As you drive from Mittagong, Bendooley Estate is approximately one-kilometre before the corner of Oxleys Hill Road and Old Hume Highway on the right-hand side of the road. If you reach the intersection of Oxleys Hill and Old Hume, you’ve gone too far – and definitely don’t go all the way to Berrima!
